About our t-shirts
organic cotton fabric
You probably know that certified organic cotton is naturally softer and lacks the harsh chemicals of industrially grown cotton - a very toxic product whose residual pesticides and herbicides (like organochlorines, organophosphates) continue to destroy life long after harvest!
Stopping for Butterflies t-shirt suppliers source certified organic cotton that has been ring-spun and combed, a premium method which offers a finer, softer and smoother feel against the body than the usual coarser open-ended type. Woven ring-spun cotton yarn has a reputation for greater durability: with all strands twisted firmly in a consistent direction, there's less likelihood for them to fray or break.

The beautiful Orchard Swallowtail was custom-created by Miller Marshall from NSW.
The Orchard Swallowtail - a being of light with beautiful patterns and reflective pigments that bring in the sun-warmth. The unending cycle of their highly evolved body requires 30 degrees of sun-warmth for optimum metabolic and metamorphic abilities.
hand printing
Our small-batch t-shirts are silk screened by hand in Northern NSW. We use water based inks that are free from solvents, CFCs, HCFCs, and other toxic chemicals. The final prints and the certified organic cotton fabric are equally durable under normal use and correct care.

During fabric processing the spent water is cleaned and re-used, not dumped. Fair trade means fair pay and conditions in the shirts’ production (no sweatshops). See the certification standards and logos.
Cheaper ‘fast’ clothing carries an unseen cost to the environment and to human and animal welfare, hence the t-shirt pricing for these valued ethics. With proper care your new favourite t-shirt is made for long-lasting fit and comfort!
Washing: turn inside-out / cool wash / no harsh detergents / do not tumble dry / do not iron / do not bleach / line dry.
(We like using heavy duty washbags).
mailer satchels
The packaging of our shop items is equally important. We have explored and discarded various common methods. Bio- and plant-based plastics sound attractive but offer no guarantees of non-GMO raw inputs, and are often sourced from broadacre industrial farming systems. The pulp in Kraft cardboard mailers and padded mailers is sourced from living trees that were themselves supporting life. Production mostly occurs in a ‘couldn’t-care-less’ way where standards are notably absent. For that reason we have selected natural unbleached 100% post-consumer recycled paper collected from Australian households and industry: 100% Australian owned and made. And we love the earthy look and feel of our grey-brown mailer satchels too!

All products are as shown and described on our web site. The t-shirts especially have a comprehensive size range and size chart so you can find your closest fit. Please choose carefully as once we ship there are no returns or refunds for change of mind.
